Hanuman Jayanti 2018: Lord Hanuman is a devotee of Sri Rama. As per Hindu calendar, Hanuman Jayanti is observed on the 15th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. Lord Hanuman birth anniversary is celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti. Mainly India and Nepal will celebrate Hanuman Jayanti.
Why We Celebrate The Hanuman Jayanti Festival
Hanuman is the central figure in the epic of Ramayana. All the people across the world celebrate Hanuman Jayanti. All the people go to temples to offer prayers to Lord Hanuman. Also, people believe that Lord Hanuman will bless them if they offer prayers with great devotion.
The parents of Hanuman are Anjana and Kesari. Lord Hanuman have different names. They are Anjaneya, Kesarinandana, Maruti, BajrangBali. Also, people believe that if they worship Lord Hanuman, he will give them strength and remove evil which surrounds them.
In the state of Tamil Nadu, people celebrate Hanuman Jayanti on Margazhi month of Moola nakshathram. Also, people will celebrate the festival on the full-moon day in the month of Chaitra in Maharashtra. In the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, people celebrate the festival by performing Diksha of 41 days.
The Diksha will start on Chaitra Purnima and conclude it on the tenth day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishaka. Also, this year people started Diksha on April 11 and ends on May 21. So, this year, Telugu states will celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi on May 21st.
Finally, people prepare sweets and offer as prasad to Lord Hanuman. Also, people worship Hanuman with Betel leaves. It seems that Sita Devi blessed Hanuman with Betel leaves, so the tradition follows.
In Karnataka, people celebrate the festival in the name of Hanuman Vratam. People celebrate the festival on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi which comes in Margashirsha month. Also, many people read Hanuman Chalisa after offering prayers to Lord Hanuman.
