Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti 2019: The celebration of Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti is the most important among all the festivals in the West Bengal. People celebrate his birthday as Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti on May 9th. This is his 158th birth anniversary. In Kolkata, Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti is also called as Pochishe Boishakh.

Rabindranath Tagore is a well-known poet in India. He was born on may 7th, 1861 in Calcutta. Tagore was the 14th child to his parents Maharshi Debendranath and Sharda Devi. He belongs to a middle-class family. Tagore was a disciplined person and use to read books which are related to history, geography. He was also a good English learner, painter, philosopher, and writer.
At his childhood, he learned music, and he likes doing experiments. Tagore slowly began to write poems, songs, and stories about our Indian culture. Simply we can say that he was an all-rounder, energetic and extraordinary talented person.
Tagore began to create more wonders by his poems and novels. Tagore is a creative genius who played a crucial role in writing the Indian cultural poems in the early 19th 20th century. Rabindranath Tagore has written his first poem at the age of 6. In 1878 he went to England to learn barrister. After he returned to India in 1880 he married to Mrinalini Devi.
Then he moved to Santiniketan a place which is located in West Bengal to develop an ashram. This ashram was dedicated to learning Moral and Spiritual values of traditions of the ancient education. This ashram was very dear to Tagore’s heart in his entire life. Later on, this ashram was named as “Sriniketan” means “abode of peace”.

Tagore’s famous poem was “Gitanjali” a lyrical poem which was awarded as Nobel price in 1913. He was the first Asian to get honored by a Nobel prize in literature. It was a pride movement to India.
This prestigious award brought Tagore into the public. After this most of the people in the country followed him by his novels and reading poems. He also had a very good collection of novels like Sonar Tari, Gora, Raja and Rani, Chitrangada, Malini, etc.
Rabindranath Tagore has written a national anthem called “Jana Gana mana” in Bengali. Later it was converted into Hindi version by the ” Indian Constitution” on January 24th, 1950. This national anthem takes approximately 52 seconds. Though the song has sung in Bengali in 1911, but it was largely unknown to many people in the country. Tagore kept writing poems throughout his life.
